TALLAHASSEE, Flor. — A high school cheerleader is threatening to file a lawsuit unless she is put on the varsity team at Leon High School.
The team’s coach says the girl fell twice during tryouts and judges voted to cut her from the team.
The girl will be a senior this year and her name is not being released.
The school district has overruled cheerleading judges in the past and is still deciding how to rule in this case.
“I don’t know why the district feels the need to go behind the back of the coaches and the school,” said Leon cheerleading coach Caylen Berry in an interview with the Tallahassee Democrat.
Leon High will compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando in February.
The team was state runner-up last season in the large non-tumbling division.
