CHICAGO — It may be tougher to find a chase ATM in the Chicago-area next year.

Chase is selling most of its off-site ATMs, including 422 in local Walgreens stores.

A Chase spokeswoman says they’re simplifying their business and found customers were using ATMs less frequently.

More than a decade ago, Chase had 7,000 ATMs. Now, the bank has more than 18,000.

In the Chicago area, Chase has 1,913 ATMs and will have 1,471 after they exit the drugstore chain.

The bank says customers will still be able to find a Chase ATM within five minutes of most of the ATMs that they’re selling off.

ATM operator Cardtronics said it expects to have news on new branding later this year.
