HARVEY, Ill. — Prosecutors have filed charges in the murder of Mike Carney, a popular Chicago-area barber who was shot dead in front of his 5-year-old daughter last month.
Perry Gosa, 27, of Matteson, is charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 21 attack. Authorities believe the motive was jealousy; Carney was dating Gosa’s ex-girlfriend.
Carney was shot twice in his head after pulling into a gas station in Harvey. His daughter was in the car at the time.
Gosa surrendered to authorities at the Markham courthouse Tuesday. Police issued a warrant for his arrest last month, calling Gosa “armed and dangerous.”
Carney was considered one of the top barber in the Chicago area. His clients included Chicago Bears players Khalil Mack and Prince Amukamara.
