Bail is set at $400,000 for a Riverside man, accused of driving drunk and killing a bicyclist on the West Side.

Police say Robert Vais hit 28-year-old Hector Avalos in the 2500 block of West Ogden Blvd late Friday.

Vais is charged with one felony count, and two misdemeanor counts of DUI.

Prosecutors say his blood alcohol content was .118, well above the legal limit of .08.

Avalos’ relatives say the former Marine was an aspiring chef who’d recently been hired at a River North restaurant.
