CHICAGO -- Charges have been dropped in the assault case against a former Uber driver in Chicago.

Cook County prosecutors dropped the charges against Maxime Fohounhedo saying new evidence came to light.

His wife told a Chicago Tribune reporter outside court that her husband had made a 9-minute recording of the alleged victim talking while driving her home that night in November.

Fohounhedo was accused of assaulting a 22-year-old woman on November 16th in the 2600 block of West Lawrence.

He will be released from jail tonight.
