Democrat Schumer tells McConnell Senate should adopt 2001 deal for 50-50 chamber

WASHINGTON (NewsNation Now) — U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer told current Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday that the best way to organize the chamber with its coming 50-50 party split would be to adopt a deal like the one the Senate used in 2001, "without extraneous changes from either side," a Schumer spokesman said.

In a meeting, Schumer and McConnell also made progress on the issues of "quickly confirming President-elect Biden’s nominees and conducting a fair impeachment trial," the spokesman said.

Fight over in-person learning wears on between CPS, CTU

CHICAGO — As the COVID-19 pandemic wears on so does the fight over in-person learning. Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union remain at odds over the issue.

The district, teachers and parents all contributed to the reopening plan but the CTU continues to say they’re not being heard. This caravan is another enough to get their message out.

Bells and candlelight honor 400,000 dead from COVID-19
