Carnival ride mishap in West Chatham sends 7 children to hospital

CHICAGO — Chicago police say seven children were transported to the hospital after a carnival ride abruptly stopped at a carnival at 8800 block of South Lafayette in the West Chatham neighborhood. 

The abrupt stop caused six children to hit their heads who were on the ride, and one child was transported who was not on the ride but was waiting below, and parents requested the child to be checked at hospital.

Police say all children were transported in good condition. The four kids transported to Comer Children’s Hospital are between the ages of 5-7 years old. The ages of three children sent to St. Bernard are not known at this time.

 The ride is the Dragon Wagon, a children’s roller coaster.  Police still investigating with carnival. The ride is shut down at this time.
