Francis Cardinal George is getting ready to resume his public schedule after canceling three events since Saturday because of his health.
The Cardinal is scheduled to celebrate Mass later today in Lincolnshire at the Catholic Extension Bishops meeting. Archbishop Blase Cupich is delivering a speech at that meeting as well.
Cardinal George had cut back on his schedule because he's being treated for an infection -- an apparent side effect to his cancer treatment.
He will have a lighter schedule now since he will not be going out of town.
Last weekend Archbishop Cupich was introduced as Cardinal George's successor as leader of the Chicago Catholic Archdiocese.
Archbishop Cupich toured seminaries, pastoral centers and Holy Name Cathedral, where he met with all the employees. The Archbishop stopped by a fundraiser for St. Joseph's Seminary last evening to greet the seminary staff and students, as well as guests.
