A lawsuit filed today in Cook County circuit court accuses the Boy Scouts of failing to protect a Chicago area scout from a known pedophile.

The suit says the plaintiff was molested in 1985 when he was 10-years-old by a scoutmaster who was a convicted pedophile.

Thomas Hacker was found guilty of molesting children in Indiana and was banned from scouting there.  He then moved to Illinois and became a scout master.

The lawsuit claims he continued to molest children for another two decades.

Hacker is serving a 100-year prison sentence in Illinois.

The man who filed the lawsuit wishes to remain anonymous.  But his attorney says he wants to see the boy scouts organization held accountable.
