CHICAGO -- Holiday travelers planning to beat the traffic by taking the CTA Blue Line encountered unexpected delays after reports of smoke led for the closure of the airport's O'Hare stop for about an hour Wednesday night.

The CTA suspended service between Rosemont and O'Hare Wednesday night around 6 p.m. due to "fire department activity."Fire crews determined the smell of smoke was likely coming from a broken elevator motor, a spokesman said.

The Chicago Fire Department tweeted that it dealt with the "minor issue" with no serious impact and "no fire." Trains are moving again.
