Bicyclist killed crossing tracks around downed gates

A bicyclist was killed after he was hit by a CTA train on Chicago’s north side.

The man was crossing the train tracks near the Kedzie Brown Line station just after midnight.  Police said he had tried to ride around the gates when he was hit by the train.

The man, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as 31-year-old Ronayne Thomas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further details were not immediately available.
