CHICAGO — A 39-year-old female bicyclist had died after being hit and pinned under a truck.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. Thursday morning neat 727 W. Madison St. in the city’s Greektown neighborhood. Police said the woman  was heading north on Halsted Street near Madison Street when a dump truck making a right turn hit her.

Chicago police said the bicyclist was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Streets were closed in the area while the incident was investigated, and have since reopened.

Lakeshore Recycling Systems released the following statement:

This morning, a Lakeshore vehicle was involved in an unfortunate incident with a bicyclist.  We are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this event and cooperating fully with police. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved.

The woman’s name has not been released.

The Chicago Department of Transportation said this is the fourth bike fatality in Chicago so far this year. There were six in 2017.
