Man in custody after barricade situation in Park Manor

CHICAGO — A man is in custody following a barricade situation in Chicago’s Park Manor neighborhood Wednesday.

Police responded to a domestic incident at about 8:30 a.m. in the 7100 block of south Rhodes Ave. A man then barricaded himself inside of a residence with a woman and an infant. SWAT was called to the scene.

After the man was taken into custody, police said the woman and infant were safely removed from the residence. They were treated on scene and taken to an area hospital as a precaution.

The nearby Park Manor Elementary School remains on lockdown, but it is expected to be lifted..
