Vigil for 2-year-old girl found dead in Lansing

A candlelight vigil was held for the two-year-old girl that was found dead in her home South Suburban Lansing.

Family and friends of Jakkariah Patterson came together to honor her memory at Mason Park in Evanston Friday night.

The toddler was found dead inside the home by her father at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The agency is considering Jahariah Patterson’s death a homicide after an autopsy was conducted Thursday morning. The autopsy confirmed that patterson died as the result of child abuse. The medical examiner’s office said she was beaten to death.

Investigators have begin interviewing members of her family.
