CHICAGO — Another architect is asking George Lucas to reconsider his decision to give up on Chicago as host city for his new museum.

Architect Michael Sorkin wants Lucas to consider building his museum on the site of the old U.S. Steel Chicago South Works.

He says it could be the centerpiece of a new museum campus. He adds, no buildings would have to be torn down, and no park land would be used; and as a bonus, the site is already accessible by Metra.

Lucas’ team backed out of its negotiations with Chicago because a lawsuit by Friends of the Parks threatened to drag out the process of securing a lakefront site for the museum.

Lucas’ people are currently in renewed talks with San Francisco and Los Angeles.
