Animal adoption program underway in Niles

Loving homes wanted for dozens of dogs and cats in Niles.

On Wednesday a school bus slammed into the Wright-Way Adoption Center on Touhy Avenue in Niles.

Fortunately no one inside and none of the animals were hurt, but the building is no longer safe.

So workers have taken over the parking lot next door quickly trying to find homes for about 75 adorable dogs and cats some were already at the shelter but most were just delivered here from southern Illinois.

Interested families can fill out an application pay the adoption fee and if they’re approved they can go home with a new pet today.

The founder of the no-kill animal shelter tells us they have found a temporary home– but now they’re trying to raise money about $1.5 million to build a new facility.

The adoption and fundraising event runs through 8 o’clock tonight and again on Saturday and Sunday But these cuties are going fast!
