Amtrak train headed to Chicago strikes, kills farmer

An Amtrak train going from Champaign to Chicago hit and killed a farmer.

The train hit a fertilizer spreader as it came out of a field, in Savoy Thursday night.

The driver was flown to a hospital, where he died.

No one on the train suffered any serious injuries.

The train had to be towed back to the station in Champaign.

Passengers were put on another train, and arrived in Chicago six hours later than scheduled.
