HARVEY, Ill. — A retired postal worker said it’s a miracle she wasn’t hurt after a vehicle plowed into her home early Friday morning.

It happened just after 5 a.m. near 159th Street and Dixie Highway in Harvey.

Police believe two juveniles crashed a stolen car into the home after police spotted them driving erratically.

Cell phone video shows the stolen car in flames after the crash.

“My whole room was collapsed around me… my dresser was in the bed with me,” said Annie Washington. “I was asleep. I was in bed.”

Metra Police did not engage in a chase when they saw the vehicle drive erratically, per their policy.

One teen has to be extricated and was treated for minor injuries. Police said a second teen tried to run but was quickly caught.

Washington was not injured and thanks God for saving her.

“By his grace and mercy that I’m still alive,” Washington said.

An investigation is underway.
