CHICAGO — An American and Dutch teenager have been arrested for operating websites that launch cyberattacks around the world.
Federal authorities have charged Zachary Buchta of Maryland and Bradley Jan Willem van Rooy of the Netherlands with conspiring to cause damage to protected computers.
Authorities also allege they trafficked stolen payment accounts from victims in Illinois and elsewhere.
Authorities made the bust following an international investigation into the hacking groups “Lizard Squad” and “PoodleCorp”.
Buchta was scheduled to appear in court in Chicago this morning.
Van Rooy is in custody in the Netherlands.
