PHOENIX — A mother who donated her 7-month-old son’s organs after he passed away hears his heart beat for the first time in nearly three years.

Heather Clark faced a tragedy in 2013 when she lost her 7-month-old son, Lukas. Lukas died after being abused by his babysitter’s boyfriend. Clark didn’t think twice before donating his organs to save a life of another child.

Clark couldn’t hide her emotions as she listened to the heart of 4-year-old organ recipient Jordan Drake at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. According to the Daily Mail, Jordan was born with congenital heart defect and was one of the three children that received Lukas’ organs.

Clark reached out to Jordan’s mother Esther Gonzalez in December of last year and shared her excitement about meeting the family on Facebook.

Clark shared her excitement a week before the meeting as well.

Gonzalez gifted Clark with a red teddy bear covered in pink hearts that when pressed made a heartbeat sound. “That’s Lukas’ heartbeat,” Gonzalez explained. At the meeting, Clark also shared photographs of Lukas with Gonzalez.

Donate Life Arizona captured the emotional reunion on Friday and shared photos on Facebook. They also captured the entire reunion on video.
