CHICAGO — A 9-year-old boy who was reported missing Tuesday night has reunited with his father in Englewood.

Michael Campbell was reunited with family members Wednesday morning near 74th and Vincennes, just a few blocks from the child’s home.

According to the father, the fourth grader was at a friend’s house during the all-night search for him. He said Michael was afraid to head home after school on Tuesday afternoon because of gunfire, and fell asleep after playing video games.

As a precaution, he was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital for a check-up.

Michael’s mother notified Chicago police of his disappearance around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday. He was last seen by his brother during lunch hour on Tuesday at Harvard Elementary School, located at 7525 S. Harvard Ave.

Relatives spent the night searching the neighborhood.
