CHICAGO — U.S. News and World Report ranks six Chicago public high schools among the best in the state.

Among the top 10 in Illinois, Northside College Prep, Walter Payton College and Jones College Prep make up the top three.

Whitney Young ranks No. 4, Lane Tech is No. 6 and Lincoln Park High School is No. 10.

Here is the full list of the top 10 high schools in Illinois:

  2. Walter Payton College Preparatory High School
  3. Jones College Prep
  4. Whitney M. Young Magnet High School
  5. Adlai E. Stevenson High School
  6. Lane Technical High School
  7. Deerfield High School
  8. Highland Park High School
  9. Prospect High School
  10. Lincoln Park High School

Nationally, Northside College Prep came in 15th place and Walter Payton was ranked 66th.

These ratings came after CPS recorded its highest graduation rate, at over 69 percent.

Last year, enrollment in Advanced Placement courses increased 40 percent in the past four years. CPS leads the country in AP participation by African American and Latino students.
