CHICAGO — Police are investigating after a smash-and-grab burglary Monday night at Louis Vuitton.

Just after 6:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the store, located in the 900 block of Michigan Avenue, on the report of a smash-and-grab.

Chicago police said about five or six young men came into the store, all wearing face masks. Tens of thousand of dollars of merchandise was reportedly stolen. Sources tell WGN that item or items taken are worth upwards of $50,000.

As a luxury brand, one of their expensive purses can cost that much.

After the burglary, the suspects got back in a black Chevy Equinox SUV and took off north on Lake Shore Drive.

Police said the Chevy Equinox was stolen earlier Monday in the northwest suburbs.

No one is in custody as police continue to investigate.

Editor's note: We initially said a purse was stolen, sources say more items may have been taken.
