A west suburban man reaches into his cookie jar and pulls out something much sweeter than an Oreo. How about a winning lottery ticket worth $4.85 million?

Geneva’s Ricardo Cerezo was cleaning out a cookie jar filled with lottery tickets dating back several months.

He took them in to his local convenience store to scan them when one of them popped up a winner.

That’s when he started comparing his numbers against the lottery website.

The discovery couldn’t come at a better time.
He and his family were facing foreclosure and they’ll use the winnings to pay-off their home.
