Thirty adults and one girl face misdemeanor charges after a five-hour police standoff in Edgewater over the weekend.

13 men and 17 women, in addition to a girl, were charged with disorderly conduct, according to police.

It started late Friday night in the 6300 block of North Lakewood Avenue.

Officers thought they heard gun shots coming from a party at an apartment building.

SWAT teams were called to the scene of the barricade situation at about 1 a.m. after a gunman fired shots at police. Police said an officer curbed a car for a minor traffic violation at the address at 11:20pm. During the stop the officers were fired on by an unknown person. No one was struck.

They surrendered peacefully at 6 a.m. Saturday.

A weapon and shell casings were found in the apartment, but the shots came from an area behind the building.
