MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police in Tennessee reportedly arrested a 28-year-old Memphis man who was accused of assaulting his 93-year-old girlfriend.
According to NBC5 in Memphis, police responded to the couple’s home late Tuesday night. The woman’s daughter, who lives next door, reportedly told police she heard her mother screaming, “Let go of me, you’re hurting me.”
The station says that according to a police affidavit, the boyfriend, Thomas Standley, pushed the daughter out the door when she came by to check on her mother. She said she continued to hear her mother screaming, asking Standley to leave her alone, according to the report.
The affidavit stated that the 93-year-old woman said Standley was mad at her because the woman didn’t want to take her medicine, according to NBC5.
He reportedly began choking and violently shaking her, according to the woman. The 93-year-old also told police her boyfriend “hurts her all the time.”
Standley was charged with domestic assault. He’s due in court Thursday.
