$100M in state money may be used for Obama library

An Illinois house committee passed a plan today offering $100 million dollars in state money to help lure the Obama Presidential Library to Chicago.

House speaker Michael Madigan is sponsoring the plan and it was approved by an executive committee vote of 7 to 4 along party lines.

Public money has never been used to build an official presidential library.

The bill now goes to the full Illinois house for consideration.
