CHICAGO — A man was found stabbed and shot to death inside an apartment on the West Side.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm in the apartment in the 100 block of north Wood Street in the West Town neighborhood at about 9 p.m. Monday.

They broke into the apartment and found 60-year-old Robert Smith lying face down with multiple gunshot and stab wounds.

Food was burning on the stove.

The Tribune reports that a 1-year-old girl Smith was babysitting was missing, but she was found hours later and taken to the hospital for observation.

It’s not clear where the child was found.

Police say the murder is domestic related. They are not saying if anyone is in custody.
