Man killed in crash with police car in South Austin identified

A man was killed, and four people injured after a car crashed head-on into a police car in the  South Austin neighborhood.

It happened Friday night near West Harrison Street and Laramie Avenue.

The driver of the car, Anthony Camarillo, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy Saturday determined Camarillo died of multiple injuries from the automobile collision and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The police officers were taken to the the hospital in stable condition, police said. Two people from the other car were taken to the hospital in serious-to-critical condition.

A witness said the driver of the car was speeding, and ran a red light.
