1 dead after trying to crash Fort Meade NSA gate

FORT MEADE, Md. -- One person is dead after a car with two people tried to ram a gate at the National Security Agency headquarters.

Those facilities are located on the Fort Meade Army base. Police shot and killed one of the suspects and seriously injured the second.

The incident took place a distance from he main buildings. Officials are calling the incident a "gate crashing," and have made no link to terrorism.

In addition to the NSA, Fort Meade houses 95 units from all branches of the armed forces. About 11,000 military employees and 29,000 civilians work there.
