1 dead, 3 injured in Far South Side shooting

A man was killed and three other people were injured in an overnight shooting on Chicago’s Far South Side.

It happened on the 600 block of E. 131st street. According to a witness, 50 people were gathered outside an apartment for a birthday party, when a fight broke out and someone opened fire.

A 28-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The fourth victim, a 22 year-old man, took himself to Metro South Medical Hospital.

A witness to the shooting said she tried to help the man who was killed. “I tried to give him CPR and the police told me ‘No’. They didn’t try to save him or nothing,” she said.  “They didn’t let me do anything.. they actually pushed me away.”

Police said no one is in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
