Man killed, 2 injured in fire on Southeast Side

A small fire in a senior center high-rise on the South Side killed a resident and injured two others.

It happened at 8 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of East 69th Street in the Park Manor neighborhood.

The man who died was 51-years-old and in a wheelchair.

His name was not released.

Two elderly women were hospitalized in serious condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Smoke detectors in the building were working when firefighters got there.
