CHICAGO -- A man from Chicago knew he wanted to do something big for his girlfriend's 30th birthday, so he planned a surprise party -- but that wasn't all.

For a year and a half, Adam Wilson planned a huge event for his girlfriend, Sandy, that would be unlike any other. It would be her surprise 30th birthday, surprise prom (Sandy never went to hers), surprise proposal and the final surprise -- they would be married. All in the same night.

On Saturday, May 7, Sandy accompanied Adam to what she believed was a wedding for his good friend, Amy Huang. Little did she know, she would arrive to a banquet hall full of family and friends there to celebrate her.

The night started off with the surprise 30th birthday party - but that was only the beginning.

At 11 p.m., the couple recreated a prom scenario where Adam and Sandy were announced prom king and queen. Towards the end of the dance, a message to Sandy was projected on the LCD monitor behind the DJ: "Will you marry me?"

When she turned around, Adam was down on one knee. Sandy, of course, said "yes" - but still, one more very special surprise was left.

Just minutes after the proposal, the happy couple said their vows and were married in front of 150 of their family and friends.

Adam is thrilled that his year-long plan was a success, and says he's glad loved ones were able to keep the secret from Sandy for so long.

He also told WGN he couldn't have pulled this off without his good friend, Amy Huang, who helped him plan the entire thing.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
