On WGN Morning News Wednesday, Kyle Schwarber dispelled any rumors that he would be able to play with the Chicago Cubs during the playoffs or even — potentially — the World Series.
The 23-year-old slugger was ruled out for the season after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery for an injury that occurred early on in the season.
“It’s not happening,” he said. “I will be on the bench cheering for these guys, but I just won’t be ready.”
Also, Schwarber says he’s not too sure about a rematch against the New York Mets.
“You know, last year, a little part of me wanted to play the Mets, and you saw what happened to us, we got crushed,” he said.
