CHICAGO — Even though hippos look like they have a beer belly, their fat layers are really pretty thin. In fact, the five-thousand-pound beasts are mostly muscle.

And though they don’t eat meat, hippos are still considered some of the most dangerous and aggressive animals on the planet.
