CHICAGO — The 35th annual Young Playwrights Festival kicks off next month with a virtual opening night ceremony.

The pieces premiering are written by high school students and given a professional stage production upgrade.

Ilesa Duncan, executive and producing director for Pegasus Theatre Chicago, and Laylah Freeman, one of three festival winners of the annual Young Playwrights Festival, joined the WGN Midday News to talk about the festival.
