CHICAGO — The Orlando massacre has many Americans asking how another mass shooting was allowed to happen, with lawmakers in Washington taking much of the criticism.
Congresswoman Robin Kelly, (D) Illinois, agrees with the frustration. She has been pushing for stricter gun laws, and has stopped taking part in moments of silence held after mass shootings. Kelly says the real tribute, would be meaningful gun control legislation.
Congressman Bob Dold, (R) Illinois, also wants change. He broke with his party on Tuesday, and called for a series of gun control measures that could prevent such shootings.
The Orlando massacre has had an impact on the campaign trail. DePaul University Political Science Professor, Ben Epstein, takes a closer look at how the presidential candidates responded to the shooting and their ideas for reform.
