  • Man hit by stray bullet while sitting inside South Side home

    CHICAGO — A man is recovering after being hit by a stray bullet while sitting in his home on the city’s South Side. The shooting happened around 2:20 a.m. Monday at 97th and Ingleside. Neighbors said they heard rapid gunfire, just before the 27-year-old man was hit. One of the bullets came through the door of the man’s home and hit him under his arm. He was taken to the hospital in fair condition. No one is in custody.

    CHICAGO – Two girls were shot in the West Pullman neighborhood, according to officials. The girls, 11 and 17, were standing outside on the 1700 block of South Perry Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night when a white vehicle drove up and opened fire.     CHICAGO — Even with hundreds of additional officers patrolling the city’s most violent areas, Chicago recorded more than 50 shootings for the second weekend this month.   • Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run on Northwest Side

    CHICAGO — Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on the Northwest Side. It happened at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in the Edgebrook neighborhood. Steven Lajin, 22, was riding a motorcycle near Le Mai and Ionia when he was rear-ended by a small black vehicle. Witnesses say Lajin was thrown from his motorcycle and hit a tree.     CHICAGO — A longtime pastor has been removed from a local church after three decades following reports of improper conduct. Reverend Frank Phillips from St. John Cantius Church in Goose Island was removed by the Chicago Archdiocese.
