    CHICAGO — An elderly woman died in a fire Friday in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood. Crews found the woman dead about 9:50 p.m. Friday inside her burned home in the 4000 block of West Cullerton Street, according to the Chicago Police Department.   • Man, 50, killed in Longwood Manor fire

    CHICAGO — A 50-year-old man died Friday in a fire in Longwood Manor on Chicago’s South Side. Chicago police said fire crews responded to a blaze in a home in the 9800 block of South Sangamon Street around 10:25 p.m. Friday. The man was discovered inside the residence. He was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

  • Man charged in fatal shooting at Berwyn Airbnb

    BERWYN, Ill. — A man has been charged with murdering 27-year-old Michael Rivers at an Airbnb in Berwyn last month. The Berwyn Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force arrested Mashawn Pringle, Jr., 29, on Friday. Authorities believe he is the man who shot Rivers multiple times March 24. Rivers was found dead inside an apartment in the 6200 block of Roosevelt Road.     CHICAGO — A 47-year-old woman was shot to death in Austin early Saturday, police said. Officers responded to gunfire detected by ShotSpotter technology at 12:25 a.m. Saturday in the 5300 block of West Iowa Street, according to the Chicago Police Department. They discovered a woman on the sidewalk next to an alley entrance. The woman had multiple gunshot wounds in her head, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
