    CHICAGO – Nearly 200 probationary officers are being deployed to police districts in Chicago neighborhoods. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago police First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio say Saturday that the assignments are the first for the new officers.     CHICAGO — Tyson Foods Inc. has recalled more than 11.8 million pounds of frozen chicken strips because the products may be contaminated with metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Saturday. The government agency said this is an expansion of the March recall, when 69,093 pounds of potentially contaminated strips were identified.     LITTLETON, Colo. — Saturday is the 20th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting in Littleton, Colorado. A vigil was held Friday night to honor those killed. Twenty years ago, the nation was horrified when two heavily armed teenagers shot and killed 12 fellow students and a teacher, before killing themselves.   • Police search for hit-and-run driver after man, 54, struck in foot

    CHICAGO — Chicago police are looking for the female driver of the vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run accident last month. The vehicle is described as a gray newer model Honda CRV. Police said a man, 54, was walking in the crosswalk at Fullerton and Kildare avenues in Hermosa when the driver of the CRV stuck him in his left foot.     CHICAGO — An elderly woman died in a fire Friday in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood.   • Man, 50, killed in Longwood Manor fire

    CHICAGO — A 50-year-old man died Friday in a fire in Longwood Manor on Chicago’s South Side. Chicago police said fire crews responded to a blaze in a home in the 9800 block of South Sangamon Street around 10:25 p.m. Friday. The man was discovered inside the residence. He was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    BERWYN, Ill. — A man has been charged with murdering 27-year-old Michael Rivers at an Airbnb in Berwyn last month. The Berwyn Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force arrested Mashawn Pringle, Jr., 29, on Friday.
