    CHICAGO (AP) — Kevin Hayes scored after he lost a goal because of an offsides challenge, and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Thursday night.     CHICAGO (AP) — The Washington Capitals admitted they weren’t at their best. Still good enough to pull out a win to start a five-game road trip. Tom Wilson broke a tie with 8:13 left and the Capitals rebounded after blowing a two-goal lead to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-3 on Sunday night for their third straight win.     CHICAGO (AP) — Jonathan Toews scored 46 seconds into overtime, Robin Lehner made 37 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 on Friday night. Toews drove to the net and knocked a rebound of Patrick Kane’s shot from the right circle past Elvis Merzlikins to give Chicago (2-2-1) its second straight win.   • Trubisky set to practice, hoping to play Sunday

    Bears QB Mitch Trubisky met the media for the first time since injuring his left shoulder against the Vikings September 29th.  Trubisky says he plans to practice this week and feels close to 100%. Trubisky said it’ll be up to him to show the coaches and training staff in practice this week that he’s ready to play. Trubisky anticipates having to wear a harness of some kind if he does play Sunday.    

  • Local PGA Jr. team headed back to National Finals

    The Cog Hill PGA Jr. League team is heading back to the PGA Jr. League National Finals for the fourth consecutive year. Twelve All-Star Teams of junior golfers ages 14 and under will compete in the 8th PGA Jr. League Championship  at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, Oct. 11-14. Dan Roan caught up with the team during one of their practice sessions at Cog Hill to golf and milkshakes.

  • Boylen calls LaVine a unique talent

    Bulls Head Coach Jim Boylen said at Media Day on Monday that the team’s goal is to make the playoffs this season.  If the Bulls are going to make a run at the playoffs they’ll need better health and another big season from Zach LaVine. LaVine led the Bulls in scoring last season averaging 23.7 points per game.  The 24-year old will likely be the Bulls number one option on the offensive end again this season.   • Bears backup QB Chase Daniel likely to start Sunday; Roquan Smith will practice

    CHICAGO — Chicago Bears Head Coach Matt Nagy didn’t have much of an update on Mitch Trubisky’s injured left shoulder, but said Chase Daniel will likely start Sunday for the Bears when they face the Raiders in London. Nagy characterized Trubisky as “day-to-day.” Nagy also said linebacker Roquan Smith would be a full participant at practice on Wednesday but would not say if he would play Sunday and Nagy continued to call Smith’s absence from Sunday’s game a personal matter.     CHICAGO (AP) — Shane Bieber got tagged early and the Cleveland Indians lost ground in the AL wild-card race, falling to the Chicago White Sox 8-3 on Wednesday night. The Indians’ loss clinched the AL Central title for Minnesota. Cleveland lost for the second time in its last nine tries and dropped 1 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay for the second AL wild-card spot.
