Jean Kang is a Digital Producer at WGN-TV.

Prior to joining WGN-TV, she worked at WTVO-TV in Rockford. She also interned at ABC7 Chicago as a consumer investigative intern.

Jean graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s in broadcast journalism.

The department released a sketch of the suspect who they say drove up to a teenage girl who was walking near Dryden Elementary School on August 17.   • New Illinois law bans smoking in vehicles with anyone under 18

    SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed legislation Friday, which prohibits smoking in vehicles with anyone under 18. According to Bill HB2276, it will be illegal to inhale, exhale, burn or carry a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, weed, plant, regulated narcotic or other combustible substance in a motor vehicle containing a person under 18.     GARY, Ind. — A man was killed after shots were fired during a police traffic stop Saturday morning. Around 3 a.m., Gary police officers were involved in a shooting during a traffic stop in the area of East 23rd Avenue and Kentucky Street. 25-year-old Rashad Cunningham was shot and killed.   • 8-year-old girl shot in Humboldt Park drive-by

    CHICAGO — An 8-year-old girl was shot in a drive-by shooting in Humboldt Park Sunday late afternoon. The girl was at a barbecue when she was shot in leg after occupants of a blue Dodge Charger drove-by and fired shots in the 1000 block of N. Monticello around 3:54 p.m. She was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in good condition. No one is in custody at this time. Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
