Alyssa Donovan

Alyssa Donovan is a reporter, and fill-in meteorologist who joined WGN-TV in November 2021. 

Alyssa came to WGN from WRTV in Indianapolis, where she worked as a reporter and meteorologist since 2018.  Prior to WRTV, Alyssa worked at ‘sister station’ 41 Action News in Kansas City, Missouri as a field reporter, covering severe weather and other wide-ranging stories.  As a weather forecaster at KXLY, the ABC affiliate in Spokane, Washington, she covered everything from wildfires to extreme flooding and record snowfalls.   Donovan got her start at the ABC/NBC duopoly in Peoria, Illinois as a reporter and weather forecaster. 

A native of the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Alyssa has a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Illinois State University and also completed Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology program. In her free time, Alyssa loves outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking and is working on visiting all of the national parks. A volunteer with the Red Cross and American Heart Association, Donovan is also getting involved in lung cancer research locally.
