INDIAN HEAD PARK, Ill. – Police say a 42-year-old man stabbed his parents inside their Indian Head Park home Saturday morning, killing his father, before setting the house on fire and taking his own life.

An urgent 911 call brought Indian Head Park police to the single-family home on the 6500 block of Cochise Drive Saturday around 9:20 a.m. When they arrived, a woman was outside her home who told authorities her adult son, later identified as Phillip Stasi, stabbed her and then set the house on fire.

Police and paramedics pulled 75-year-old Ronald Stasi from the burning home, but he died from a stab wound to the back that penetrated a lung, officials said.

Philip Stasi was found in an upstairs bedroom with what the Cook County Medical Examiner later determined were self-inflicted stab wounds to his leg, neck and arms.

Neighbors say Philip Stasi used to hide in the woods wearing bizarre costumes, and jump out to scare people as they passed by.

Precisely what sparked the fatal rampage at his parent's home is still under investigation by local police in the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
