Police seek driver involved in fatal hit and run in River North

CHICAGO — Chicago police are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on the city's Near North Side.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. Monday while a man was reportedly crossing the street at Ohio Street and Wabash Avenue in River North. Police said he was hit by a white Toyota SUV and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as a 43-year-old Hispanic male.

The driver of the SUV drove off.

Police released surveillance images of the vehicle which they describe as a white Toyota Camry 4-door, possibly 2012-2014. The Camry will have driver's side frontend damage and damaged driver's side-view mirror.

It was last seen traveling southbound on Lake Shore Drive from Grand Avenue.
