Person struck, killed by Metra UP-W train near Villa Park

VILLA PARK, Ill. — A Metra Union Pacific West train struck and killed a pedestrian near Villa Park Tuesday morning.

Metra posted about the accident just before 8 a.m. on its website. Metra UP-W train service was halted in both directions after the accident. Metra also said some that trains would stop service and start new service at Elmhurst.

The person killed by the train has not yet been identified.

Metra UP-W train service resumed at about 10 a.m. with extensive delays. Metra officials recommended seeking alternate transportation if possible.
