Bear that climbed 30-foot tree in Massachusetts town safely relocated

ARLINGTON, Mass. — A black bear is now safe after wandering around a Massachusetts town and climbing a tall tree in someone’s backyard.

Police in Arlington, Mass., first responded to reports of people seeing the bear just before 7 a.m. CT Friday.

The bear then climbed about 30 feet up a tree and stayed there for some time. Environmental police successfully administered a tranquilizer, and the bear climbed down on his own.

The bear was taken into an environmental police truck and will be returned to the wild. The bear was not injured.
