Pregnant mom, 4 children missing from Aurora located by WGN crew

AURORA, Ill. -- A pregnant mother and her four kids who were reported missing from Aurora have been located by a WGN News crew.

Aurora police issued a Child Abduction Alert overnight for the 30-year-old woman and her four children who were last seen traveling in a white van in Plano around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

WGN Reporter Nancy Loo was in Aurora covering the story Friday morning, when her photographer Kevin Cassidy spotted the white van. Loo and Cassidy then followed the van a few blocks until it parked in front of the missing woman's home.

The mother, along with the four children and family dog, came out of the van, confirming it was indeed the missing family.

The woman said she had no idea about the police alert, and that the incident is a “huge misunderstanding."

She told WGN she left with her children because she did not feel safe in the home. She said they spent the night at a family business.

Nancy called 911 and Aurora police responded to the scene. Authorities are now questioning the mother.

EMS has also been called to the scene as a precaution.

The license plate on the van listed in the Aurora police alert did not match that of the van the mother was driving.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
