Boy, 10, killed after van crashes into retention pond

KANE COUNTY, Ill. — A 10-year-old boy was killed after a crash in Kane County.

It happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday.

Cameron Simmons, 10, was riding in the van with a woman and a girl,  westbound and exited I-90 at Route 47.  The van veered off the pavement, rolled over, and landed upside-down in a retention pond.

The woman and the girl survived with the help of two bystanders.

Cameron was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Last August several people had to be rescued after getting into a similar accident in the same location.
