U.S. Coast Guard’s Christmas Ship arrives at Navy Pier with 1,200 trees

CHICAGO — The U.S. Coast Guard’s Christmas Ship has arrived at Navy Pier with 1,200 Christmas trees that will be donated to families in need.

The tradition began in 2000 as a reenactment of Chicago’s original Christmas Tree ships from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

WGN’s Sean Lewis stopped by Navy Pier to learn more.
